The Homeless Cats

He appeard at 5 every evening. Having heard of him opening the door of the minibus and his steps, all the cats gathered and ran towards him. Mr Liu, who took a bag of cat grain, whistling went to the corner, and filled the bowl with it. It was time for supper, cats were waggling their tails.

Mr Liu opened the bag, murmuring: “Mimi, come here!” they had no name, so he called them as Mimi which is the common appellation of cat in Chinese. “They eat a lot every day!” Generally, Mr Liu bought tow big bags of cat grain every month, about 100 kilograms in total, which cost him 200 RMB of his 1500 RMB salary. Sometimes, he bought some fish and cooked for the cats.

“These cat will not always stay here.” Said Mr Liu. Usually, there are two ways for them: one is being adopted; the other is staying here, and being send to have a birth control operation when they are old enough. A kind old lady in Quiet Garden will take the suitable cat to have this operation, which costs 50 RMB each (it is the special price for these homeless, but it will cost more then 90 RMB for a home cat), and take care of it until it recovers. “Birth control operation is a good way to limit the population of homeless cats, even a home cat.” Mr Liu still took his cat to have this operation, after all procreate of cat can cause troubles.

The curtain of night arrived, and the cats were still eating. Mr Liu stood up and left. The black cat didn’t want  him to leave, he followed Mr Liu for a long distence. “No one can be cleverer then him, he will follow me to my home, and of course, I will not refuse to give him something delicious.” Mr Liu smiling, diminished in the darkness.
